Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino Laughlin - Description
When you first walk into the Golden Nugget, you would think you were walking into a tropical forest, much like some of the high end casinos in Las Vegas. There are tropical plants and waterfalls and the smell of coconut oil permeates the air. This is the theme for the entire hotel.
The Nugget has 300 rooms and suites decorated with the tropical theme. The rooms either have a river, courtyard or pool view. The pool also faces the river, so while you are out sunbathing or just cooling off, you always have breathtaking views of the Colorado River.
The casino is also decorated with the tropical theme and gold trim abounds everywhere. The Nugget has all of the table games and slots that its big brother has in Vegas, just on a smaller scale. There are hundreds of slot machines to try your chance at and a race and sports book as well. Also located in the casino is a sports bar with large screen TVs, which just so happens to double as one of the hottest night clubs on the river. Tarzan’s nightclub has live DJs in the evening and a large dance floor for the young at heart.
If dining is your thing then the Nugget won’t disappoint you. The Saltgrass Steakhouse is fine dining with a steak and seafood selection. For a more relaxed atmosphere, Harlow’s restaurant is also located in the casino with Sunday Brunch available from 9:00 am until 2:pm. One level down from the casino, along the river, is Joe’s Crab Shack where seafood is the name of the game. At Joe’s, a seafood buffet is served daily and you can sit outside on the patio, right on the river’s edge. For fast food you can grab something from the deli or perhaps a mocha cappuccino from Starbucks.
Valet and covered parking are also available for those who worry about such things.

The Golden Nugget is a very nice hotel and casino. The rooms are very well kept and the casino is immaculate. The only thing that is missing is a big venue for major entertainment. The property is relatively small which can be a drawback on big weekends. The river walk can get you to the other casinos and the water taxi can be taken for a small fare. You can also take a jet boat tour package on a 40’ jet boat to Lake Havasu from the Nugget’s dock.

I would have to give this casino a rating of 8 out of 10 chips. It would have been higher but there is a lack of amenities, simply because there is not room for them.
