Pioneer Hotel & Gambling Hall in Laughlin - Description
The Pioneer was one of the first casinos established on Casino Drive in Laughlin Nevada. Its theme is right out of the old west. The Pioneer has not changed much since its humble beginnings. The casino has all the Vegas style table games as well as a wide array of slots and video poker machines. You can also place a bet on your favorite team at Lucky’s Sports Book.
The hotel is a two story unit that expands in a horseshoe shape around the casino. Within that horseshoe arrangement are 416 rooms, with 80 of them overlooking the river. Suites are available on request with a western theme throughout the rooms. There are also rooms available for you to bring your pets.
Granny’s Gourmet is an award winning, fine dining restaurant that is well known to tourists and locals alike. Sunday brunch at Granny’s is out of this world with exotic dishes like pheasant, quail, and frog legs along with all the best steak and seafood. If you plan to eat at Granny’s, I would suggest making reservations because this restaurant fills up quick. The Boarding House restaurant and buffet offers casual dining and the Fast Draw snack bar offer sandwiches and snacks for those of you on the go.
To fit in with the western theme the Pioneer also hosts a Cowboy Store with plenty of western art and apparel. So if you forgot your hat, don’t worry, they have you covered.
Editors Review
The Pioneer is a throwback to days of the past. The casino is small and the rooms are old. That does not mean that the rooms aren’t nice, because they are, but there is no riding the elevator down to the casino level. The rooms are separate and you will have to bear the elements to get to the casino. There is plenty of parking for your boat or RV but none of it is covered. If flashy lights and glamour is your thing, this is probably not the casino for you. But if living in the Wild West is your cup of tea then the Pioneer is the place you oughta be.

Because of the size of the casino and the walk from the rooms, plus the lack of amenities I would have to give the Pioneer a rating of 5 out of ten chips.
