Riverside Resort & Casino in Laughlin NV - Description

Don Laughlin’s Riverside Resort Hotel & Casino is family owned and also caters to the family. Don started the casino in 1969 and was the first hotel and casino in Laughlin. It has come a long way since then. The resort now boasts more than 1400 rooms and suites in two towers, which include 93 executive rooms and one penthouse suite. The hotel has two pools and an oversized heated spa. Across Casino Drive is a new addition to the casino with more slots and covered parking. Connecting the two is a covered, climate controlled walkway that takes you over the strip. Behind the covered parking is a 740 space RV park with full hookups that tiers up the hill.

But that is just the beginning. There is plenty to do for the entire family. Located next to the Laughlin Bridge, the Riverside is the northernmost casino on the river. A public boat launch ramp is located next to the resort and the river walk begins there and continues down the river to the River Palms Casino. The Riverside has Laughlin’s only bowling alley with 34 lanes. League bowling is year round, with leagues finishing up there, from all over the country. If bowling isn’t your thing there is a car collection to die for. With cars and motorcycles from the past to the present, there is always something new to see. Don also a collection of antique slot machines on the main casino floor. If movies are more your thing, The Riverside has a 6 plex movie theatre complete with popcorn and all the treats. There are two arcades for the kids to play their favorite video games. If that’s not enough, headline entertainment is the norm for the Riverside in Don’s Celebrity Theatre.

For the adult crowd there are two nightclubs is the Casino. The world famous Loser’s Lounge has top 40’s bands nightly. The Dance Club hosts Karaoke nightly along with more contemporary/country music genre. The casino has all the Vegas style games including table games as well as all your favorite slots, new and old. There is also a complete non-smoking side of the casino, with its own table games and slots.

Finding something to eat is not a problem at the Riverside. Fine dining can be found and the Gourmet Room and the Prime Rib room is a favorite for tourists and locals alike. The Riverview restaurant is open 24 hours with great views of the river. If it’s a buffet you’re looking for, the Riverside Buffet has something for you. The Casa Serrano serves up fine Mexican cuisine and the Sidewalk Café can get you in and out fast with a variety of sandwiches and snacks. There is a Rice Garden for your Asian taste. The Food Court has a variety of menus that will make you smile. Complete with Pizza Hut Express, Cinnabon, Dreyer's ice cream, and Seattle’s Best gourmet coffee, you can always satisfy your sweet tooth.

Picking up a gift for you or someone else can be done at the world famous Watch Man. One could spend several hours looking at all the collector watches and clocks with every theme imaginable. There is also a high end jewelry and watch shop, along with a ring store and sunglass shop in the casino.
Riverboat cruises can be boarded daily to Davis Dam and back, on a double decked, climate controlled replica steamboat. You can also book a wedding on the USS Riverside or in the Starview room which offers a 15,000 Sq.Ft. meeting and banquet room. Wedding packages are available for any budget.
The Riverside also offers fly-in packages from just about every major hub in the United States. With Laughlin International located directly across from the Riverside, shuttle service is a breeze.

Commentary From Editor

The Riverside has something for just about everyone. Don has kept a good mix of new games as well as old favorites you might not find in the newer casinos. With a large Bingo room and big prizes given away nightly, you will always find the Riverside to be a favorite place among the locals.

The casino has a down home atmosphere which reminds you of Las Vegas about 20 years ago. It does not have the high ceilings and extravagant carvings and colors that the new casinos boast. Some of the machines still take coins and it is not unusual to hear the familiar sounds of them dropping into the tray.
The rooms are clean and have either river or mountain views. Updated suites located at the ends of the towers feature balconies that overlook the river. The river walk is easily accessed from the south end of the casino.

One thing you will notice is how spread out the casino is. Over the years the casino and resort has been expanded and not everything is as convenient as it could be. One could get lost easily in the maze of hallways leading to all of the amenities that are available. But for those of you who want more than just a casino then the Riverside might be just for you.

Review: I made reservations for the PrimeRb Room a week in advance. It was my husbands 63rd birthday. I wanted to surprise him by having the servers sing "Happy Birthday" to him. The hostess said this could be done, and to inform her when we arrived. Our reservations were for December 24, 2011 at 4:30 p. m.
I informed the hostess upon our arrival, and she said to let the server know also, which I did. The server was preoccupied the entire time we dined. I then asked another waiter and he said he would take care of it.
The request never took place. I was very disappointed with the service.
To make matters worse the staff proceeded to sing Happy Birthday to another diner. We were finished eating, and decided to leave. I hope in the future your staff is more attentive to their patrons. I found this rude behavior.

Review: Trip was very well organized and every staff encounter was a good one. However, we were very disappointed with the room. We had requested a handicapped room to make things more accessible for my grandmother. The door to the room was incredibly heavy making it hard to get it and out for her. The shower in the bathroom had no ledge leaving water all over the floor and us very fearful of slipping. On our 2nd night there I had rented my grandmother a scooter from Riverside to make it easier for her to get around. When she returned to our room she could not get that heavy door open and stay open so she could get the scooter in the room. She fell off and the scooter ran over her foot. Paramedics had to be called and she has a lot of bruising. The room was a disappointment to an otherwise nice trip.

Review: Would not recommend this casino, well actually the cafe to anyone. Absolute worse service. Nothing compares to a serving tray with 2 cups of ice water being dumped on my 3 year old sons head and then to be treated as though we were at fault for allowing him to sit there at the table. When we asked manager for some help, like maybe a shirt from the gift shop since he was soaking wet, hair, shirt, shorts, and underwear, her only response was, I will call security there is nothing we can do. And the customer service continued to get worse, we were ignored, had to ask for drink refills 3 times, had our waiter roll his eyes at us upon the 3rd request for the refills. And when the poor customer service was brought to the mangers attention and that my son didn't have an appetite after being soaked and having to borrow an adults tshirt just to finish dinner, she said "I can't comp any of your food" maybe a couple words like "I am sorry you have experienced this" or "let us clean up the mess that the server made by dumping the water over his little head" but no we were handed 2 wash clothes to try and dry him off and then had to clean the water off the table and dry out his seat that had standing water and ice cubes in it. Absolutely horrible, we will never return to the Riverside Resort and Casino. I always thought an apology and then acknowledgement of the situation were customer service 101 but I guess I was wrong, I think the Riverside should look into some customer service training and maybe a little service recovery training for their cafe employees since obviously they are incompetent in those key elements to the food service industry.

Next week will be our third charter trip to Laughlin. The Riverside has a great mix of machines, the food has always been good at every level, the rooms are modest, yet clean and spacious. The staff is always attentive, helpful and polite, drink service is EXCELLENT. We love Laughlin because itz not as crazy as Las Vegas Strip but still offers the excitement and variety on a smaller level. We enjoy using the pontoon taxi on the river to visit all the other casino's/restaurants. Great place...and the heat is ON!!!!

Our last trip was in 07 had a great time enjoyed ever minute wish we could
make one more trip but it's not possible.
But I will ask if it possible for me to purchase two of the Riverside Casino
Caps thur your gift shop I have worn out the I have it is the best conversation starter a man could have I would like one more cap to keep the

I live in Columbus Ohio, I used to come to Riverside resort casino every year via the shuttle Sun country Airlines..........They no longer come here to Columbus, I really enjoyed coming to The Riverside every year.and looked forward to it .Always felt welcome there and comfortable..I can't imagine staying anywhere else........We here in Columbus, and surrounding areas miss that shuttle to the RIVERSIDE and wish you would, resume those flights. Thank you

We have found the Riverside provides most all of the gaming we enjoy and also provides the best comps for our play. Don Laughlin's marketing staff knows how to get and keep guest and players by providing a friendly and helpful staff and the comps to keep us coming back. We live in Denver Colorado and regularly take advantage of the Riversides charter airlines that flies directly for Denver to Laughlin. No hassle as they pick us up at the airport, have our room ready for us and deliver or bags to our room. Once at the Riverside there is plenty to do between the variety of games, dinning options, movie theater, bowling and entertainment. Walking the river walk to get to the other casinos (even though close by) in the summer can be hot but the river taxi's are always a welcome option.

The downside to the Riverside Resort is the age of it. We did notice the many of the rooms are being upgraded and are comfortable but the casino itself could use a good makeover. We also noticed that they tend to cater to a lot of budget minded families and retirees. Nothing against this but not a 5 star atmosphere you we are accustomed to on the Vegas Strip.

We would travel to Laughlin a lot more frequently if the Riverside or other casinos would provide air transportation from Denver to Laughlin more often. We give the Riverside Resort a 7 of 10 chips mostly for thier comps and variety of entertainment options to do while in Laughlin.

ReviewComments: Can't tell you how much we enjoy our trips to the Riverside Resort and Casino. We plan for that trip each year and are always amazed at how much more in perks is added. We live in an area where there are numerous Indian Casino's and it is a real treat to play at the Riverside. If we don't come out winners we at least are allowed play time with our money. The rooms in the South Tower are very nice, comparable to any hotel/motel room. The service is great and the staff very cordial. We just returned from our winter get away and had a great time!
