Tropicana Express Hotel & Casino in Laughlin - Description

What used to be called the Ramada Express, The Tropicana purchased the property a couple of years ago and has since totally renovated it. The hotel sports over a 1000 newly remodeled rooms in two towers. Many of the suites have in room Jacuzzis. The rooms are beautiful, with faux wooden blinds and down topped beds. The entire casino floor has been re-carpeted and the place looks new. The Tropicana did not change the theme of the property when they took it over. The train theme still runs throughout the casino, inside and out. With authentic train memorabilia hanging everywhere, train buffs are sure to be enthused. Even the pool is shaped like a locomotive and there is an oversized spa and cabanas next to the pool. There is even a miniature train running around the entire property that you can ride for free. Covered parking and a dry camping area are available behind the hotel. The only drawback to the Tropicana is that it is not on the river. If you want to visit any of the other casinos or the river walk, you will have to walk about a ½ mile across Casino Drive and through the Colorado Belle’s parking lot to get there.

The casino has been outfitted with over 1,000 new slots and video poker machines including the animated blackjack and poker machines with the large screen. You still have all of your favorite table games with live dealers and a live poker room to hone your skills. The casino offers high ceilings and great ambiance. There is even a sushi bar located right on the main casino floor.

The Steakhouse restaurant is widely known as one of the best in Laughlin, featuring steak and seafood. For those of you who are looking for Italian cuisine, Passagio Italian Gardens has many of your favorites. Taqueria Del Rio has authentic Mexican food with great Margaritas. The Roundhouse Buffet features all your favorites and serves up unlimited prime rib nightly for a great price. Under the Stairs snack bar also has just about any snack you want, including the biggest soft ice cream cone you’ve seen in a while. While not part of the Tropicana, In-N-Out Burger is in the parking lot next door and just a short walk away.

Top name entertainment can be seen in the Pavilion theatre which is a 9,000 sq.ft. indoor venue. The Caboose lounge on the casino floor also has live bands nightly with no cover charge. There is also plenty of room for conventioneers in one of their many banquet rooms.

If shopping is your thing then the WOW store is your place. Gifts of all kinds, sizes, and shapes are available at discount prices. There is also a gift shop with discount cigarettes and a boutique shop to get those last minute accessories.

The Tropicana is a great place to stay and visit. Parking is easy and there is plenty of room for your boat or RV. The casino is kept in top notch shape and the staff is very friendly and courteous. There are two towers and one of them is adult only. The pool also has adult only hours if you want to get away from the kids. As I mentioned earlier, the biggest drawback is that it is not on the river.

I would give the Tropicana 8 out of 10 chips simply because of its location. Otherwise it would be a 9 in my book.
